In Memory

This picture was on my blog back in March ... when my aunt passed away. Uncle John was my my mom's youngest sibling and only brother. He was 58 years old. He served in the military for many years and was a kind man. I didn't get to see them very often, but I remember how much he loved his mom and his sisters. The last time I saw him was my grandmother's funeral (when this picture was taken). He was so calm and loving and respectful of his 4 older sisters. I remember them talking and laughing together. His death has been harder on me than I would have expected (since I've only seen him about 6 times in my whole life). But it again reminds me how short life is, and how easily it could be one of my parents or other family members. My prayers and heart go out to my cousin, a 19 year old who is now left with no grandparents or parents. He found my aunt when she was dying and he found my uncle after he had passed. What a heart breaking situation. My heart and prayers go out to my aunts who have lost their little brother, and especially my mom that she has lost her little brother and dealt with the estate and moved my cousin in with her during the last two weeks. I know that having him here will be an adjustment and a blessing to all of us.
