The Lindsey Family "Reunion"

Steve has a cousin who lives here in Utah.  Derek and his family happen to live about a half mile from here.  Derek's son is leaving on a mission for our church this week so two of Derek's sisters and his parents came to town this weekend.  We made plans with everyone in town to  gather at the Salt Lake City Cemetery today at his grandparents' grave.  We put flowers on their grave and took a few pictures.

My girls with some of their cousins...

Steve's uncle and dad ...

Steve's uncle, dad and 6 of their 11 kids.  This is the first time in close to 15 years that this many of them have been together (the last time more were together was their grandpa's funeral in 1999).

Then we added all their kids.  (In-laws all stayed out so we could take the pics).

Then we all headed to the park next to the cemetery, which is called Lindsey Gardens.  Lindsey Gardens is named after Steve's great great grandfather Mark Lindsey who once owned the property and operated an amusement park there in the 1870s.  Derek and Marsha brought a couple of ice blocks and the family tried out some ice blocking which is a family tradition.  Steve's grandfather used to ice block with the grandkids until grandma made him stop when he was 85 years old.

Uncle Joe did a great job!

The girls all gave it a shot, here's Alyssa.

Steve's sister Karen gave it a try too.

Jess and Tay headed down too.

And last, Steve's dad gave it a try.

It was a fun afternoon.  We really should get ALL the cousins together at some point.  Grateful for holidays that bring family together!

Thanks for the post, Donna. We had a great time with the cousins over the last couple of days. We are glad that we got to see everyone at Mark's farewell and at the cemetery and Lindsey Gardens. Fun pictures. I'm glad you posted them.
