100+ Babies ...

... snails that is. We have an aquarium and have had snails in it for quite awhile. We recently bought a new snail after other one died. When we were at PetSmart the worker who helped us mentioned that snails are asexual so we have to watch out for eggs... We didn't think much of it. We've had snails for other a year and never had eggs. But this snail was different. Within a week, the snail had gotten busy and laid 4 batches of eggs. We let part of one batch hatch and then cleaned the rest of the eggs off ... they were so tiny, but we could tell there were a lot of them. Now, a week later, my estimate of 30-40 snails has gone UP to at least 100! They are tiny still but the white dots cover the glass, rocks and plants of the tank. Alyssa has been taking orders from her classmates ... so we'll see what happens with them as they get a little bigger. In the future, we are making sure the eggs all get cleaned off before they hatch!
