One of the AFHS Marching Band buses rolled tonight on their way home from a band competition in Pocatello tonight. Apparently, the bus driver wasn't feeling well and suddenly blacked out. The woodwinds instructor tried to grab the steering wheel and prevent going off the road but was not able to. She was killed in the accident. Two others were life flighted. About 2 dozen students were taken to the hospital with a variety of injuries from scratches and bruises to broken bones.
My heart goes out to the band members, instructors, their families and friends. One of our close friends is the assistant band director and percussion instructor for AF. Mike is safe. He drove his own car and was ahead of the buses.
