First Flight!!

No, it isn't my first time flying, but it is my first time flying in a small private plane with MY HUSBAND as the pilot! Yep, Steve got his first flying lesson! Matt, a friend of ours from BYU Drumline, is a flight instructor. He was here Friday night for the small drumline reunion we hosted. When he heard how badly Steve has always wanted to learn to fly, he offered to take him flying some time. By the time Matt left, he had asked if we wanted to go flying in the morning - Saturday morning. He checked his schedule and we arranged a sitter so we could fly the next day at 12:30. After Matt left, Steve admitted to me that he was really nervous. As excited as he was, and even though it was a lifelong dream ... he was nervous! Flying a remote conrol plane that doesnt' risk your life is a little less threatening! But we went!

We arrived at the Provo Airport right on time. Matt gave us some pre-flight info, Steve helped with the pre-flight checklist and then we climbed into the plane. Matt stepped through some flight checklists and down the runway we went. Then, Matt turned the plane over to Steve and walked him through taking off! Steve was in control of the plane as we took off and flew from Provo down to Payson and then through Spanish Fork Canyon, over Thistle and Strawberry Resevoir. Matt took the controls as we started the descent and flew through Provo Canyon and then landed. Thanks Matt for putting Steve's fears and nerves at ease! It was an absolutely BEAUTIFUL day for flying and an experience Steve will never forget. If all goes well with the I3 products that Steve is working on (one is going to beta testing this weekend!! and another is also ready for the next step) then, lessons might just be in his NEAR future! A dream come true for Steve. Mark that one off the bucket list!!

These pictures were all taken on our cell phones ... WHAT WAS I THINKING? No camera??? Duh!

Oh my gosh! What an awesome experience...I would have been freaked out the entire time - or throwing up! I'm not a fan of tiny airplanes.
