Alyssa also entered the story telling festival for her class. Unfortunately, we kind of forgot about it until the night before, so she didn't get to put a lot of effort into it. But I have to tell you about it. She laid in her bed and read a story, La Tortuga (an old folktale) over and over again for about 30 minutes, memorizing it. And once again, Alyssa's memory came through for her. She can memorize almost word for word the entire story. Its CRAZY! Sometimes in trying to remember the words she doesn't put as much expression into it as she could, but the memorization alone is impressive!! Way to go on that too!
Alyssa also got STRAIGHT A's this term at school. Despite getting easily distracted, she REALLY does well. Her teacher told me at Parent Teacher Conferences that Alyssa probably only puts forth about 5-10% effort. And she gets straight A's? Sounds like she's a little bored in class. Wish I could get everything done that well and only put forth 10% effort! Way to go Alyssa! Now, I just have to figure out how to keep her challenged and focused! :) So proud of her!
Taylor brought home GREAT grades. She actually doesn't get typical letter grades but is doing equivalent of all A's and one B or B+ in composition (really? composition for kindergarten?). But we are SUPER proud of her too! She has come SO far in the last 2 years. It was just 2 years ago that her preschool class started noticing that "Tay can talk". After a whole semester in the class, she FINALLY started talking some in January and the kids started commenting on it in late January or February. Now she is READING! Wow!
Love both of you girls so much! (Jess, too, but she's not in school so we don't get to brag about her in this post!)
