I'm not sure the girls were that interested in it, but I was. I always wanted to be an archeologist or paleontologist when I was little. I thought it would be cool to dig up bones and pottery and figure out what had happened there. I remember learning about some sites like LaBrea Tar Pits and Pompeii, Italy and thinking it would be so neat to be a part of retelling history.

A Paleontologist
So, what does a paleontologist do? Alyssa got to learn all about it at her Activity Days for Church a few weeks ago (July 7th). The 9 year old girls went to Thanksgiving Point where they listened to a paleontologist talk about what they do. It was kind of interesting. They learned about fossils, what they are, how to find fossils, what types of fossils there are, how long it takes to clean a fossil, why fossils are neat and how to tell the difference between a fossil and a cast (especially when looking at replicas of dinosaurs).
